About

I’ll just say at the outset that I’m not a natural-born blogger. The reason I have a blog is that my wife and I took a trip along Route 66 by motorcycle in June 2010. Obviously, a lot of planning went into this (deciding what bike to use, what gear to get, what luggage to take, how to carry it etc.) and so keeping a record of this might prove useful to others wanting to do similar trips.

I’m a keen amateur photographer by the way, so the ability to have camera gear with me was important. Of even more importance was the fact that my wife, Françoise, was on the back enjoying the trip with me.

I’ve also made posts for every day of our trip describing what we did, what we saw, and what we thought. In addition, I’ve added photo galleries to give a flavour for what you might see along the way. I also plan to add post-trip reviews of the selected equipment and ideas on what we could have done differently with hindsight.
